Selection mask

A selection mask is created each time you make a selection using any of the selection tools. You can access the options for this kind of mask directly in the Selection Mask palette. You can edit a mask with any of the painting tools to achieve precise selections.

  • Previously to editing the mask you must be in the selection mask mode. If not press S key to switch to selection mask mode. If you aren't in the selection mask mode you'll paint on the object and not on the mask.

Do one of the folling :

  • To add areas to the current selection mask, paint the mask with white.
  • To substract areas from the current selection mask, paint the mask with black.
  • To to add areas with more or less transparence to the current selection mask, paint the mask using gray levels.

Once you've created a selection mask you can easily create an independant object by using the shortcut : Ctrl + J

You can also move the selection mask using the Move tool (V). Select it and drag the selection mask to another position.
